A selection of old vines over fifty years old, some planted in the 1920s, this is an absolute delight, with a shimmering pale golden straw hue in the glass, and a gorgeous nose, so confident and very expressive, its crystalline citrus laced with crushed flint and minerals. There are smoky complexities of iodine and fresh sea spray, the overall style a little reductive and all the better for it. This is followed by a delicious palate that carries all the crystalline, tangy mineral and fruit energy suggested on the nose, with appetising bitterness and acidity, and a deliciously textured vinous presence. Long, full, shimmering and grainy, this is a beautiful Muscadet. The declared alcohol is 12%.
